A K-12 mental health specialist position is available for the 2025/2026 school year in Lapeer, MI. This contract role involves providing social-emotional support directly to general education students through individual and group sessions. Additional responsibilities include supporting classrooms and school buildings by delivering professional learning and implementing positive behavior programs.
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver individual and group social-emotional support to students
- Assist classrooms and school staff with behavior intervention strategies
- Facilitate professional learning related to mental health and positive behavior
- Collaborate with educators to promote student well-being
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in psychology, social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or related mental health field
- Appropriate licensure or certification, such as:
- Licensed Masters Level Psychologist or Social Worker (LMSW)
- Limited Licensed Masters Level Psychologist or Social Worker under supervision
- MDE credentialed Masters Level School Psychologist or School Social Worker
- Licensed Bachelor Level Social Worker (LBSW) enrolled in or planning enrollment in LMSW program within 24 months
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist or Professional Counselor with corresponding licenses or under supervision
- School Counselor License or equivalent with planned licensure advancement if temporary or preliminary
